I have a guy locally I'm helping with the same interface and Reaper 4. He has similar problems but is not as far along in his testing as you are. He has Win7 on a laptop with higher specs than yours. Worth a shot, anyway. Also, I don't know much about the Zoom r24, but it's a recorder in addition to an interface, right? Is it possible to play back tracks that are on the R24, rather than your HD? I actually thought another suggestion of uninstalling and reinstalling the USB drivers might have worked Unless Zoom resolve the problem with a driver update So, I've still got the Focusrite Saffire plugged into my firewire port and, like a dog at a bone, I decide to go back to the R24 and try one more time I then think I'll switch the Focusrite Saffire off Why the F should a USB product only work when a firewire product is plugged in?????????????????????????
Colin very confused!!! OK, latest update Finally found out what the real USB problem was It works out that the PC Suite sync software for the phone grabs all your USB ports and hinders all communications on those ports forever after, once it's installed!! I removed the software, deleted all references to it in the registry but still no luck As soon as the new card was installed the shop found that 'something' in the PC was still trying to grab the new USB ports and the interupts were still happening!!
After much 'Googling', the shop repair guys discovered someone with the same problem and found it was caused by one single file left in the registry of the PC, which did not show up as being connected with the Sony Ericsson software Apparently, there have been hundreds of angry emails sent to Sony Ericsson, regarding this problem and lack of ability to completely uninstall the PC Suite software, but Sony Ericsson has refused to supply answers comments or fixes. So, onwards and upwards with the Zoom R24 and Reaper, and thank you so much for the help and suggestions on this great forum.
According to the PC shop's readouts, the USB ports were working AOK but, last night, when I finally had the chance to put everything back together, as soon as I started Reaper, the latency was redlining again!!! So the Focusrite seems to be blocking whatever's causing the problem. At least, then, if there's still a problem, it's down to one of the two. According to info that has come to light in a thread about this on the Zoom forum, I'm pretty sure this has been the original poster's problem all along.
